The sandhill cranes are as much a part of the scenery in my backyard as the grass and oak tree. They take ownership of the bird feeding area when they come through each day. They come in threes in the late spring up until fall, sometimes fours, and then they come in couples until the next late winter or spring when new babies are born. They mate for life, and it makes me sad to see one smashed on Narcoosee Road near our house. The road is forever busy, and they try, at times, to cross it during the worst hours of the day, and it is often disasterous for at least one member of the family.
They remind me so much of people because they should never be smashed on Narcoossee Road; they can fly.
God, remind me daily that I have wings.
Love, Linda

You're right-people should not be smashed on Narcoosee Road either!
