I sometimes find myself involved in situations where I 'm being treated in a particular way that I don't like by someone , and I can't seem to find the source of the treatment. I may try talking it out or praying it out or, in the worst case scenario, yelling it out, but it seems nothing changes. Whenever that happens, I am very adept at finding the proverbial "mote" in my brother's eye and not the log in mine. I think that's just how most humans "roll." However, it causes me unnecessary grief because(I 'm changing the I to we now because I don't think I 'm alone here) if we are trying to live our lives by the words of wisdom passed to us from the Bible, it clearly gives us a message about that very situation. It says this in Galatians, "Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for you reap whatever you sow."
I am the queen of shades of gray. I love delving into thoughts and ideas looking for every possible angle known to mankind and then I take out my roller and pan and paint those thoughts gray. It's how I "roll." Ha, did you get that pun? O.K., that's silly. Anyway, there are some things that are not as difficult to figure out as I make them, and I bet I 'm not alone. If I am having difficulty with someone's treatment of me, there is only one place to search, in the presence of God, for a solution--my very own heart. It clearly gives me the answer in Galatians 6:7 in black and white. Finding the source inside involves digging back into the gray.
Peace.
Love, Linda

I don't think that this is biblical but "Sticks and stones will break my bones but words can never harm me!"
Another thought I had was that maybe this has something to do with that sign that we sometimes put on our backs which says "Go ahead, hit me."
Those are very interesting comments. I remember "sticks and stones...," but at this stage in my life I believe it has conditions. Words can never harm me IF I choose to not let them harm me. Otherwise, they can be lethal, but that's my opinion.
Does it sound like too much abasement to you? Is that why the "hit me" comment?
Yes.
At the risk of sounding stupid what do you mean by abasement? Anyway,I thought that was where people up North stored their canned veggies. O.k. Now I'm getting not only stupid but silly. Right?
I think some people may look at it and think that I am full of self-blame or putting myself down, abasement. That is not what I meant at all, but I can understand why it may sound like that for some.
I like your definition, though. I think that is where the veges were stored in the winter up north, abasement.
